High-Flying Research

Christian Gehrke’s constant companion these days is small, loud, and on the cutting edge of technology. But the Ohio Wesleyan University senior isn’t complaining. His companion is the DJI Phantom I drone complete with a modified GoPro digital camera.

A Meaningful Mural

Over the course of three days, more than 200 Ohio Wesleyan University students, faculty, and staff came together during Homecoming Weekend to create a new mural that celebrates cultural diversity, acceptance, and social justice.

Island Magic

This past summer, two Ohio Wesleyan students, one recent graduate, and Professor Jim Peoples traveled to Kosrae Island (within the Federated States of Micronesia) for their Theory-to-Practice project, “Ethnographic Research on Kosrae Island, Federated States of Micronesia.”

First-Time Climb

In July, William Hayes, Associate Chaplain at OWU, accompanied 14 members of the Wilderness Ministry and the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO, a campus ministry that works with churches, colleges, and other organizations) on an expedition to climb Gannett Peak.

Putting Scientific Theory into Practice

OWU’s Schimmel/Conrades Science Center hosted the Patricia Belt Conrades Summer Science Research Symposium (SSRS) on September 16th. This outstanding program celebrated its 21st year at Ohio Wesleyan and featured brief presentations from each of the students who participated in the intensive 10-week summer research program.

Avoid Fat with P.H.A.T.

When one of my field hockey teammates recommended that I join the P.H.A.T club I was slightly taken aback. What kind of club could be named P.H.A.T? Was she subtly trying to tell me something? In order to alleviate some of my confusion, I looked into it further and was pleasantly surprised by what I found.
