Not only does Gregory Moore make news as editor of the Denver Post, but the 1976 Ohio Wesleyan University graduate also is news. Moore recently was awarded the National Press Foundation’s 2012 Benjamin C. Bradlee Award as Editor of the Year.

He earned the honor for overseeing the Denver Post’s coverage of the July 20, 2012, Aurora theatre shooting spree, which – as the National Press Foundation points out – “occurred at midnight after the paper had gone to bed and relied almost exclusively on social media to inform the community of the horrific events that evening.”

The Bradlee Editor of the Year Award was established in 1984 to “recognize significant achievements that enhance the quality of journalism in the United States. The award, open to an editor at any level, is made in recognition of imagination, professional skill, ethics and an ability to motivate staff – qualities that produce excellence in media.”
