Ohio Wesleyan University has added a video scoreboard and enhanced audio system at its historic Selby Stadium. The new equipment was used for the first time May 26-28 at the NCAA Division III men’s and women’s national outdoor track & field championships.

The new scoreboard is designed to show live video feeds, player and statistical information, and instant replays using “Super Slo-Mo” capability. The scoreboard is 24 feet wide and 8 feet high with electronic team name capability, allowing Ohio Wesleyan to customize the board for any team.

The video display equipment weighs 1,181 pounds and is made up of 240 individual, 20-millimeter video panels with 30,720 total pixels. The scoreboard was manufactured by Greenville, Ill.-based Nevco, the world’s largest privately held scoreboard manufacturer.

With the new scoreboard also comes an enhanced audio system that adds additional outdoor speakers and volume controls to ensure fans can better hear all of the action anywhere inside the 9,100-seat stadium. The audio system was designed by Paladin Professional Sound, which has local offices in Worthington.

The new equipment is possible thanks to generous support from an anonymous OWU graduate and from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. These upgrades follow the addition of stadium lighting in summer 2010.
