Ohio Wesleyan University Announces December Public Events

Through Jan. 6, 2014 – “Love Life,” an exhibition of poems and paintings by Fred Andrle and Karen Snouffer, in Gallery 2001 in Beeghly Library, 43 Rowland Ave., Delaware. Andrle is an associate at The Ohio State University Humanities Institute and the former host of WOSU radio’s “Open Line.” Snouffer is an associate professor of studio art at Kenyon College. When classes are in session, Gallery 2001 hours coincide with library hours, which are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday. The library will be closed for Thanksgiving break from Nov. 23 to Dec. 1 and for winter break from Dec. 20 to Jan. 14. Admission is free. Dec. 3 through Feb. 2 – “FA8,” the biennial Ohio Wesleyan fine art faculty exhibition, featuring creations by eight OWU studio professors working in clay, metal, photography, printmaking, sculpture, painting and drawing, and graphic design, in the Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. The exhibition will include an opening reception from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 5.The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The museum will be closed for Thanksgiving break from Nov. 23 to Dec. 2 and for winter break from Dec. 20 to Jan. 14. 8 p.m. Dec. 6, 13, and 20 – Evening programs at Ohio Wesleyan’s Perkins Observatory, 3199 Columbus Pike (U.S. 23), Delaware. Content varies based on sky conditions, but may include a planetarium show, observatory tours, and star gazing with the 32-inch Schottland Telescope. The observatory will be closed Dec. 27. 8 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7– Directing Class/Playwriting Class “One Act Plays” featuring student directors and playwrights creating works that are surprising, varied, and full of fresh talent and energy, on the Main Stage, in Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave., Delaware. Dec. 29-Dec. 30 – OWU Women’s Basketball Bishop Classic/Hoops for Hope, at Branch Rickey Arena, 105 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. Admission to all Hoops for Hope tournament games is free, but monetary contributions will be accepted to benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund®, which supports breast cancer awareness, education, and research. This event will be streamed live and archived afterward at stream.owu.edu.
