Ohio Wesleyan University Announces February Public Events

Through Feb. 2 – “FA8,” the biennial Ohio Wesleyan fine art faculty exhibition continues, featuring creations by eight OWU professors working in clay, metal, photography, printmaking, sculpture, painting and drawing, and graphic design, in the Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is handicap-accessible and admission is always free. Through Feb. 25 – “Confederate Currency: The Color of Money,” featuring acrylic paintings by artist John W. Jones, in Gallery 2001 inside Beeghly Library, 43 Rowland Ave. Jones’ paintings reclaim images of slavery appearing on currency used by the Confederate and Southern states in the 19th century. Jones will discuss his artwork and its meaning at 7 p.m. Feb. 18 in the Bayley Room, located on the second floor of the library, with a reception afterward in Gallery 2001. Feb. 11 through March 30 – “New Art / New Mexico,” featuring 26 artists from northern New Mexico selected by Ohio Wesleyan students who visited the artists in their homes and studios as part of a university-funded Theory-to-Practice Grant experience in summer 2013. The exhibit, designed and mounted by OWU students in OWU’s gallery management class, will be displayed in the Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. An artist talk with Santa Fe-based photographer Nancy Sutor will be held at 4:10 p.m. Feb. 13 in Room 121 of Edgar Hall, 35 S. Sandusky St., Delaware, followed by an opening reception until 6:30 p.m. at the museum.
