Paul Landis discusses his work as a member of President John F. Kennedy’s Secret Service contingent. Landis, a geology major at Ohio Wesleyan, was present the day Kennedy was killed. His first connection to the Kennedys was looking after the president’s children, 3-year-old Caroline and baby John Jr.

Kyle Hendershot is one of 22 bachelors on season four of CMT’s reality TV show, “Sweet Home Alabama.” The series debuted Nov. 15. Hendershot is a neuroscience major at OWU and discussed the series recently with WSYX-ABC 6.

Marci Swindler Ingram ’74

Marci Swindler Ingram; her husband, Bill; and the Ingram-White Castle Foundation were honored recently with The Salvation Army in Central Ohio’s 2013 Need Knows No Season Award. The award commemorates “exceptional support and dedication” to The Salvation Army’s mission and programs. OWU alumnus Doug Kridler ’77 of the Columbus Foundation presented the award.

David J. Bartholomae ’69

University of Pittsburgh English professor David Bartholomae is named the 2013 Pennsylvania Professor of the Year. Bartholomae receives the honor at an awards luncheon and congressional ceremony in Washington, D.C. He is the author of three books, including a collection of essays, “Writing on the Margins: Essays on Composition and Teaching.”

Jeff Clapper is named CEO of 8th & Walton, an Arkansas-based retail supplier education company. As CEO, Clapper is responsible for the day-to-day operations as well as the long-term vision, growth, and direction of the company. At OWU, he studied economics, philosophy and music. “Since graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2002, I’ve had the opportunity to develop, grow, and sell many exciting businesses,” he says. “The education and skillset that I gained while at OWU has allowed me to take calculated risks, make educated decisions, and continue to find happiness in the small things, each day.”
